RJP Group Ltd is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and our newsletters. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data.

What we collect

We collect personal information in two ways:

Newsletter subscribers — when you sign up for a Brief newsletter via joinbrief.co.uk or readingbrief.co.uk, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your first name (if provided)
  • The town or edition you subscribed to
  • The date you subscribed and subscription status

Enquiry forms — when you submit an advertising or partnership enquiry via getbrief.co.uk, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address and phone number
  • Your business or organisation name
  • Your role or job title (where provided)
  • The towns or locations you indicated interest in
  • The content of your enquiry message

We do not collect payment card details. Any payment processing is handled by third-party providers under their own privacy policies.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To deliver your newsletter. Subscriber email addresses are used solely to send you the Brief edition you signed up for, and occasional service messages (e.g. changes to your subscription).
  • To respond to enquiries. Contact details submitted via our enquiry forms are used to respond to your specific request and to follow up on commercial discussions.
  • To contact you about relevant opportunities. Where you have consented, we may contact you about advertising availability, partnership opportunities, or new Brief editions that may be of interest.
  • To understand our audience. We use aggregated, anonymised data to understand subscriber numbers, open rates and geographic interest. This does not identify you individually.

We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling.

Lawful basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Consent — for newsletter subscriptions and for contacting enquiry form submitters about relevant commercial opportunities. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see Your Rights below).
  • Legitimate interests — for responding directly to an enquiry you have submitted to us. It is in our mutual legitimate interest to respond to messages you have sent us.

How long we keep your data

  • Subscriber data is retained for as long as your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, your data is removed from our active mailing list. We may retain anonymised records of historic subscriber counts.
  • Enquiry form data is retained for up to 24 months from the date of submission, or for the duration of any commercial relationship, whichever is longer. If no commercial relationship results, data is deleted after 24 months.

You may request deletion of your data at any time — see Your Rights below.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to third parties.

We use a small number of trusted third-party platforms to operate our services. These act as data processors on our behalf, under appropriate data processing agreements:

  • Beehiiv — our newsletter delivery platform. Subscriber data is stored and processed by Beehiiv Inc. You can view their privacy policy at beehiiv.com.
  • Go High Level (GHL) — our CRM platform, used to manage enquiry contacts. Data submitted via our enquiry forms is stored in GHL.

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of accessYou may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectificationYou may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasureYou may ask us to delete your personal data. Newsletter subscribers can also unsubscribe directly via the link in any edition of The Brief.
  • Right to restrict processingYou may ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to withdraw consentWhere we rely on consent as our lawful basis, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.
  • Right to objectYou may object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have not handled your data correctly.

Cookies

Our websites may use minimal cookies for essential functionality (e.g. form session handling). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies or third-party analytics that identify you individually.

Newsletter open and click tracking is handled by Beehiiv and operates at the level of individual emails, not website visits. You can disable image loading in your email client to opt out of open tracking.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We will notify active newsletter subscribers of any material changes by email.

Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
